Rising prominently in Downtown Miami, the Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences is well underway and steadily transforming the city’s skyline. When completed, the 100-story supertall will become the tallest building in Florida — a striking symbol of Miami’s continued evolution into a global luxury destination.

A New Icon for the Americas

Designed by architect Carlos Ott in collaboration with Sieger Suarez Architects, the tower’s unique design features nine offset glass cubes stacked atop one another, resembling a futuristic sculpture more than a traditional skyscraper. This bold architectural choice has already made it one of the most recognizable buildings under construction in the country.

At a planned height of 1,049 feet, the Waldorf Astoria will not only be the tallest structure in Miami but will rival the tallest residential buildings in the U.S. outside of New York and Chicago. Its towering height and distinctive silhouette are set to redefine the city’s visual identity for decades to come.

Construction Progress

Construction crews have been making steady headway since breaking ground in 2022. Foundation work and vertical progress have advanced visibly in recent months, with heavy equipment on-site and a large crane now a fixture in the Downtown skyline. As of mid-2025, the tower is expected to begin its more prominent upward push, with the lower floors rising above street level.

The development is spearheaded by Property Markets Group (PMG) and Greybrook Realty Partners, with Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria brand bringing its prestigious hotel and hospitality pedigree to the project.

Ultra-Luxury Living

The tower will include approximately 360 private residences and 205 hotel rooms, combining top-tier luxury accommodations with exclusive living spaces. Residents and guests will have access to amenities such as a resort-style pool deck, spa, signature dining experiences, and state-of-the-art fitness and wellness centers. Upper floors will offer panoramic views of Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, and beyond.

Units in the building have reportedly fetched record-breaking prices, with penthouses commanding tens of millions of dollars — a testament to Miami’s booming ultra-luxury real estate market.

Redefining Downtown Miami

Beyond its height and design, the Waldorf Astoria Miami represents a shift in the city’s development priorities. It reflects Miami’s growing appeal among high-net-worth individuals, global investors, and international developers who view the city as a long-term hub for luxury, finance, and culture.

Its arrival also coincides with major infrastructure upgrades in the downtown area, including new transit initiatives, public spaces, and commercial developments aimed at supporting a more walkable, livable urban core.

Completion Timeline

The Waldorf Astoria Miami is currently targeting completion by 2027, though timelines may adjust as construction progresses. Upon its opening, the tower is expected to set a new benchmark for Miami’s vertical growth and global appeal.
